undress season is starting! I was in the car with Dan the other day talking about how different I am from when we were dating and got married. I suppose I'm not that different, but I was remembering how I almost never wore pants and got "dressed up" every day. He noted that at that time I was taking outfit photos everyday, which I don't do any more, but still, my style has changed a lot. I've been working on clearing out my closet of the things I really don't wear all that much (or not at all) in the past few years. This dress, I've had for five years and has always been a favorite. I'm pretty positive it'll never end up in the give-away pile. There's nothing super fancy about it, but for some reason it's always been one of my favorites. It walks the line of being feminine, but still casual, and it's the perfect weight for muggy summer days. I did a remix post with this dress three years ago, and I'm sure I've worn it many a time since then. Paired with a comfy pair of cute sandals and a flower crown, I love how sundresses don't need to be styled up much. Just simple. Complicated styling is for Fall and Winter. Summer is for simplicity.
I've been feeling a bit of wanderlust lately. Not for anything grand and epic, necessarily, though I surely wouldn't turn down some kind of international adventure. Just a hiking trip, or an overnight camping trip, maybe spending a weekend at a seaside cabin on the Oregon coast. All winter we talk about spending the whole summer going on trips like those, but here we are at the end of September and have done nothing all summer. Granted, we've nearly completed re-siding our garage, which was a pretty big undertaking. All it needs now is one more coat of paint and it'll be done! I'm excited to check that project off the list. Siding the house was a lot of work, but not quite as fun as other house projects I'd like to do in the next year.
Anyway, I don't think my brain is quite booted up this morning. So here's a lazy day post, featuring a lazy day outfit, but there's a cute dog in some photos, so at least there's that.
On Friday night my mom came down for a super quick weekend visit. It was fun to have her come down and spend some time, and on Saturday afternoon my brothers drove up and they spent a few hours hanging out and eating dinner with us too! Even though my parents still live up in Alaska, it's so wonderful to live as close to them as possible. If you're leaving AK, flying from Anchorage to Seattle is the closest place you can go, and I know my parents had always hoped I wouldn't stray too far from Seattle simply for that reason. Even living in Spokane was a bit more of a hassle since there had to be a layover in Seattle and then another hour long flight across the state.
Mom, Dan, and I all went to the Farmer's market with Dusty in Saturday and we bought another whole chicken and roasted it the same way we did a few weeks ago, but this time we fed my mom and brothers. Plus we had some extra corn on the cob from our CSA, and a bunch of ice cream torte left over, so it was a great way to feed everyone. I got to go out for drinks with my mom both nights and we went shopping at University Village up in Seattle on Friday, which was fun. We visited the new Lululemon store up there and I lusted after all the pretty work out gear. I've been wanting a better yoga mat than my thrifted one, and those Lululemon ones are pretty snazzy. Kristi's let me use one of her's in the past and it was quite nice. Lately I've been practicing Pincha and my hand stands. I've never been able to do a hand stand or anything like that, but I've never practiced, so I'm giving it a go. It's pretty fun!
Yesterday I got some new running shoes so I can do the Make A Wish Walk for Wishes and the Seattle Children's Hospital Run of Hope! I don't think I've ever gotten running shoes that fit me, and I ran track and did basketball in high school. The shoes I'd been running in earlier this summer were the same ones I had in high school and they were size 6.5... two sizes too big. Granted, I did have track spikes that fit me for races, but my regular old running shoes? Nope. I'm pretty happy to have shoes that fit properly and the folks at South Sound Running were super helpful in fitting my baby feet with some good shoes. I haven't run since Warrior Dash, mainly because I had no running shoes, so I'm glad to get back to it! I haven't been running or working out since the beginning of August, so I'm not really excited to discover how out of shape I've become, but you gotta start somewhere, right? I'm kind of looking forward to the cooler temperatures simply because it's not really appealing to work out in an 85 degree house.

This dress is one of the dresses from Dear Creatures' summer collection that I was oogling earlier in the year. When I saw it was on sale a couple weeks ago I decided to go for it. It kind of makes me feel like I'm on an urban safari. With a tiny corgi. It's not a very exotic safari. We went to the farmer's market on Saturday with Dusty to pick up our CSA and it's always a pretty funny experience. Every 10 feet or so, we get stopped by someone asking to pet Dusty or take her photo. It's like hanging out with a celebrity or something! All things considered, especially with all the stimulation and attention at the farmer's market, Dusty has been doing great with it all! It's nice to take her out somewhere like that to socialize her and get her used to more people and dogs.
