Okay, I'm not really sure what is going on here. Some sort of bizarre Julia Childs-esque creature has overtaken my body and mind and I am doing another recipe post.
I haven't made these yet (because our bananas are still too green for this recipe), but I wanted to post this recipe so I wouldn't forget it when the bananas do get to the perfect ripeness. I LOVE banana bread, and it's so easy to make, so I thought making banana muffins would just be perfect bite-sized portions. Okay, so here is a photo of my to-be banana muffins via Google Image search, and the recipe!
Banana Muffins
2 1/4 cups all purpose or white whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup melted butter
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 large extra ripe bananas (peeled and mashed)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, mix the butter and brown sugar. Stir in the eggs, then add the bananas. Stir in the vanilla.
Combine the liquid mixture with the dry ingredients, stirring together only until mixed. Stir in chopped nuts.
Transfer the batter into greased muffin cups, filling 2/3 full.
Bake in a 350°F oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a center comes out clean.
Makes 18 to 20 muffins.
I am going to forego the cinnamon (I am a purist), and I'm swapping the nuts out for chocolate chips. Way better.
Okay, I'm going to talk about something not food-related now. Shocker, I know. I was bopping around the web today, exploring new corners of the internet when I was exposed to Christopher Kane's Resort 2010 collection. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not too into the whole designer, runway, collection scene-- not so much because I dislike designer fashions, they just aren't as accessible to me and thus, disinterest me somewhat. I always like street style much better than runway fashion. ANYway, I was over at Style Rookie and happened across Kane's collection. Tavi of Style Rookie wasn't a huge fan of the collection, and while I'm not completely impressed with the construction of the collection (kind of bland, no?), I do love the idea of the bomb-image prints.
But $200 for a t-shirt? PUH-lease. If I still had my silkscreen and a printshop, I'd so DIY that shit. This is why I hate designer stuff. I can never ever afford it. Maybe I'm just too much of a frugal penny-pincher.
