do the polka

polka dot dress, studded jacket

bout a week ago I saw Promise Tangeman's new hair tutorial for a big, messy fauxhawk and I just so happened to be having a terrible hair day, and putting my hair up into a big messy style seemed like the perfect solution.  I love how it ended up looking with the green tips too!  I'm always excited when I find a fun new hair style for big hair.  Thank God for Promise and her big-hair-loving ways!  My hair is slowly but surely getting longer and it's so much fun to be able to do more things with it, even if I do wear it down 90% of the time.  I blame it on laziness and thank god for having curly hair which looks okay even if I sleep on it and don't do anything to it.
I've been attracted to more clean, graphic prints the past few months.  I still enjoy other styles, and I've realized by now that I tend to go through phases of minor obsessions that aren't serious enough to make me want to commit fully to that one style forever.  My closet is a mish-mash of so many different styles it's a little silly.  It's one reason I have such a hard time letting go of pieces, I know at some point in the future I'll probably want to wear them again!  Then again, sometimes letting go is probably good.  Like, for instance, these tights.  I've had them since 2009(?), and they held up for a super long time, but now they've got a few too many holes.  Boo!  I'm going to try a DIY with them though, because I hate throwing things away.  I'm probably turning into my grandmother.  If someone catches me saving vast quantities of old ziplock bags, slap me.

I'm pretty sure my high school self is hella jealous of this jacket (hella, because that's what you said in 2003).  I was pretty into spiked stuff in high school.  On vacation once when I was in 9th grade I found a punk-ish shop and bought two leather, studded bracelets, one for me, one for my BFF.  They were our friendship bracelets and I still have mine!  I attached a studded bracelet to my horse Taco's bridle browband, too.  He was a very punk horse, it only seemed fitting for him to have something that fit his personality.  I like to think it helped us kick ass in the Jumper ring.  In high school I was hot and heavy in my punk/pin-up phase.  I drew flames and pin-striping and traditional tattoo designs on all my notebooks.  I was obsessed with Monster Garage and Kat Von D and I'm pretty sure I shopped on Pinupgirlclothing.com like every night, but never had the guts (or money) to buy anything.  I've still not bought anything from there, despite having something in my cart probably 10 times over the years, my finger hovering over the "buy" button, and then deciding not to buy.  I've wanted the same pair of hot pink stretch bengaline high waisted capri pants for years.  Years.  Someday, they shall be mine.  Those and like six other things on my wishlist...
