The Texas Style Council last weekend was craziness! I'm not sure if I've recovered from all the activity and sleep deprivation yet. This was the outfit I wore to Saturday's Speed Mentoring Breakfast. I got to answer people's questions about Blogging 101, alongside Tieka, including questions about customizing blog design, social networking, and how to become more involved in the blogging community. It was a nice, low-key set up and people could just walk around to the different mentors in various areas around the room, all while eating yummy breakfast tacos and sipping on coffee. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the breakfast tacos, (I'm told they're the best in Austin!) because I only barely made it to the venue on time. It was pretty much impossible to get a cab in Austin because of all the SXSW events going on, so we finally gave up trying to get one from our hotel and tried taking a bus. We missed the first bus and ran to the next stop in the pouring rain and luckily caught that one. So, alas, no breakfast taco for me. Maybe on my next trip to Texas...
After the speed mentoring session, we had time to eat lunch and walk down to South Congress where there were a ton of amazing boutiques, shops and vintage stores. We don't have anything like it in Tacoma, so it was really fun to see so much awesome vintage. I didn't end up getting anything (my suitcase was at capacity!), but it was still so fun to browse through it all.
I'll be doing a couple more posts on TxSC, but I wanted to thank & congratulate Indiana from Adored Austin for putting together such an amazing weekend for all of us. She really did an unbelievably incredible job. Thanks Indiana! And a huge huge thanks to Blowfish for sponsoring my travel, I wouldn't have been able to attend without their help!
