FAQ!

I have been so busy this weekend! And with black friday coming up and Thanksgiving this week, I have a feeling I will continue to be busy. I am doing all the Christmas window displays and merchandising at work, which is so very festive. I'm doing a lot of making stuff and constructing various things, so I've only been wearing work-clothes and warm outdoors stuff, thus the dearth of outfit posts.
Thanks to all you guys who sent me questions to answer. Since I'm working all the time with no opportunity for outfit pictures, I will give you guys an FAQ post today! Lets begin...

If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably pizza. For some reason lately I've been on this pizza kick. Plus, there are so many different kinds of pizza. Margherita, Thai, BBQ, Pepperoni, Gyro, etc., etc. I love me some Pizz.

Where in the world would you most like to go?
I've always wanted to go to Egypt. I've had a fascination with ancient Egyptian art and culture since I was little.

What are you taking up in university?
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Art, with a focus in Printmaking. So I did basically everything (graphic design, painting, drawing), but my focus was Printmaking (etching, relief, screenprinting, etc). I started out with a graphic design focus but I just don't really like making stuff for other people. It bugs me having to please a client who has a horrible idea.
Right now I'm considering going to grad school for my MFA in Fashion Journalism. I have two days to decide... so I'd better decide, eh?

Who do you look to for style inspiration?
Regular stylish people. Which is why I love the blog world, Lookbook.nu, Chictopia and Weardrobe. I love seeing how everyday people rework their wardrobe on a daily basis. Plus, I really love seeing how people reinterpret the crazy runway fashions into their daily outfits. I don't ascribe to the belief that to be stylish you have to spend a lot of money or wear designer clothes.

If you could live in any other era, which one would it be?
Either the 70's or during the birth of the United States (in the late 1700's). I love the music and style of the late 60's and 70's, but I am fascinated by the people, philosophies and courage of the founding mothers and fathers of America. I think people are far too apathetic to losing their liberty these days and it would be so inspiring to experience a time when people gave their lives to fight for liberty and justice in such a tangible way.

Which fashion blogs do you follow?
I read all of the blogs on my blogroll. The ones on the top labeled "Lovelies" are my absolute favs and daily reads. But if your blog is on my blogroll, I read it. Instead of following blogs on things like Bloglovin' or Google reader, this is how I do my daily blog reading.

What's one trend you won't be caught dead in?
I really can't think of one. I think that almost every trend can be reworked in a creative and personal way. You just have to have the confidence to pull it off.

What are your favorite books?
I love a lot of different kinds of books. My favorite poet is e.e. cummings, with Emily Dickinson coming in second, so anything by them. Other books: Perks of Being a Wallflower, Going Rogue, Blue Like Jazz, 1984, .

What is the dream job you would like if there were no limitations holding you back?
I think I might want to start my own magazine. I get annoyed reading Vogue, Elle, Glamour and all those established magazines. As much as they pretend like they are for the everyday person, they seem much to interested in designer trends and telling us what we need to be wearing. I want to make a magazine for people like the bloggers I read: stylish girls who love music and art as well as fashion. Women who don't have money to buy retail and designers, but are still incredibly fashionable. College students who want to explore their style, but only have money to get clothes from thrift stores.

How tall are you?
I'm 5'1".

How long is your hair? How long did it take you, and how did you manage to grow it that long?
My hair is like ... 2.5 feet long? I don't know. It goes all the way to my hips, so pretty long. It's longer if I straighten it. I've had long hair since I was little. When I was in 3rd grade I had a short boy-cut, but since then I've always had longer hair. If I just let my hair grow I don't even know when it would stop. I haven't had it shorter than my shoulders since 8th grade.

How do you take your self portraits and what kind of equipment do you use?
I use a self-timer and tripod for all my style shots. I have a Canon EOS Digital SLR. I just got a new lens for it, it's a 50mm f/1.4 Canon lens. LOVE it.

Do you still ride (horses)? How did you manage to put all of your hair into a helmet? :)
I don't ride anymore. I'd love to, but I had to sell my horses when I left for college, and for me it's one of those things that I have to throw my whole self into. I'm not one of those trail-riding kind of riders. I love the competition of Hunter/Jumpers. It's what I lived for. The relationship I had with my horse was profound, and we loved competing together. Maybe if I'm a rich lady someday I will do it again, but it's an expensive sport.
I just had to shove all my hair up in there. I don't really know how to explain it. There were hairnets and hairbands involved. Lets just say people were astounded when I would take off my helmet and let my hair down.

Where do you work/what do you do?
I work at a little boutique here in town (actually two boutiques. They are next door to each other and owned by the same woman). I do the Visual Merchandising for the boutiques, so I do all the window displays, the mannequin dressing, the layout inside the store, and the displays inside the store. It's really fun, actually. I'll show some photos when our Christmas displays are done!

There yah go! Just a little bit about me...
